All the Project Officers of RVM(SSA)in the State are hereby informed that, it is decided to provide assessment and speech therapy to all CwSNwho attend the IERCespecially focusing on speech and language development of hearing impaired children. Through Auditory verbal therapy joral-aural method of communication.
They are further informed that, as per approved AWP&B2013-14, a provision is made to hire the services of Audiology, Speech &Language Pathologist in each IERC @Rs.1,000/-  per visit for two visits in a month. The Role of Audiology cum Speech and language Pathologists in IERCswill be as follows:

  • Diagnosis of Speech and language of children attending IERCs especially (CWHIand CWMRand others who require speech therapy through standard evaluation formats.
  • Assessment of delay in Speech Development mile stones.
  • Assessment of comprehension, expression and cognitive levels of speech and language
  • Prescribing of suitable assistive devices and guiding parents on it usage, maintenance and care.
  • Extending Counseling and guidance on oral and aural hygiene to parents of CWSN
  • Preparation of blue print of therapy sessions and guiding IERTs forsuitable follow-ups.
  • To coordinate with the IERT for conduct of Auditory Verbal Therapy oral-aural method of communication in Hearing Impaired children.
  • Conduct of individual speech therapy sessions for CWHI and CWMR
  • Preparation of Base line plan of speech and language therapy for Hearing Impaired and Mentally challenged children.
  • Planning of speech related education~l and play way activities.
  • Regular Evaluation of set goals and achievement levels in CwHIand CwMRand maintenance of prescribed records and reports for future follow up.

        To provide training to IERTS,Parents of CWSNchildren and others who are in need of such training.
Therefore they are requested to engage One Audiology, Speech & Language Pathologist possessing M.Sc(ASLP)jB.sc (ASLP)qualification for Three (3) IERCs on hire basis for two visits once in a fortnight at each IERC in a month. The expenditure may be met from budget allotted under hiring charges to Audiology,
Speech &Language Pathologist of IE Intervention in AWP&B 20 13-14.
